The aim of the mandatory unit – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment– requires you to know and understand the principles and practices that underpin assessment.

You will need to write a reflective account demonstrating your knowledge and understanding and complete a workbook that shows your research into assessment practice and associated legal requirements.

The aim of the other mandatory unit – Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment – is to assess your performance in assessing occupational competence in an individual’s work environment.

Observation of your practice in the workplace by your assessor is an essential component of this qualification along with assessment of work products and evidence of questioning your learners.

Additional assessment methods that may be used could include witness testimonies and statements from learners.
